Tile types

What is a tile?

Tiles are a functionality utilised on cover pages, which allow the user to drag and drop different types of content in the place on the cover page they are required. A brief description of each tile type is as follows;

Upcoming Events tile

The upcoming events tile allows you to create a section on a cover page to automatically show all of the upcoming events in a feed. You can also filter the content of the tile to a specific category.

The banner tile is used for displaying images on a cover page that you do not wish to put text or any other information around. The width of the banner image will be controlled by the width of the column that it is placed into.

The carousel tile is for promoting the content across your website. It will allow you to display multiple items of content, with its image, title and description to help sign post users to the areas of the site you would like them to look at. There are multiple display options for the carousel tile, to present your content in different ways.

Embed tile

The embed tile is designed for you to be able to embed different types of media from different providers, for example a Google Map, a YouTube video, or a podcast from the Oxford Podcasts website.

The featured tile is for creating a section of content that you can enhance with the formatting options to make it stand out to a user. You can add links from this section and format the title, but not the text.

Quick facts tile

The quick facts tile gives you a quick and simple way to highlight some quick facts that you wish to show to a user. It is a static text box with a highlighted background and optional borders.

Rich text tile

The rich text tile is for adding a section of text that you wish to use rich text formatting on. You will be able to add titles, images and other media, as well as using other rich text fields available when creating other web content.

Latest news tile

The latest news tile allows you to create a section on a cover page to automatically show all of the latest news in a feed. You can also filter the content of the tile to a specific category.

Latest publications tile

The latest publications tile shows a list of the publications on the website in chronological order by publication date.

Team listing tile

The team listing tile is for adding a section displaying specific profiles to the cover page. For example, key contacts related to the content.

The navigation tile is for listing a number of items of content from the same section, to allow a user to navigate to sub content of a section.

List of items tile

The list of items tile is used for displaying links to multiple items of content from multiple sections and different content types. You can add any item of content from any section of your website into this tile. The tile is customisable and allows various different layouts and options to manipulate how you display the information.

 Social Icons tile

The social icons tile, allows you to add in social media icons to advertise to users that they can follow you on your chosen social media channels.

Blog tile

The blog tile allows you to create a section on a cover page to automatically show all or some of the blog posts on your website in a feed.

Collection tile

A collection tile is an automatically populating tile that will constantly keep itself up to date with the content that you would like to show on it so that you do not have to make manual updates. The collection tile is able to aggregate multiple different types of content from across your website. For example, you may wish for the tile to pull in all items of content that are tagged with a specific category on your website.

RSS feed

The RSS feed portlet is used for adding an RSS feed to a cover page or webpage.

Projects

The Projects tile/portlet allows you to create a section on a cover page or webpage to automatically show all or some of the Projects on your website.

OxTalks

The OxTalks portlet is used for adding a section which links to externally hosted, OxTalk events and seminars.
