    Create a new Item
  3. Make a selection to determine whether this Item should be an OSCE station or a written exam question.

  4. (Optional) The Item number can be changed if necessary. Every Item in the system must have a unique number and will by default take the next available free slot.

  5. Click Create item to be taken to the overview screen for the item type you have selected. The screens will differ slightly depending on whether you have selected OSCE, SAQ, /wiki/spaces/PKB/pages/14057686 or VSAQ.

Explanation of Item types

OSCE Station
For observed procedures.

Short answer question (SAQ)
A question where the candidate is asked to provide a free text answer. This should be used when requiring the candidate to provide a slightly more in depth answer than just a simple sentence, and therefore will need to run their answer onto multiple lines.

Single best answer question (SBA)
Multiple choice exam where candidates can select one answer from a list of options available to them.

Very short answer question (VSAQ)
A question where the candidate is asked to provide a free text answer. This should be used where the candidate is only being asked for an answer of no longer than a short sentence. This Item type can be automatically marked by the system.
